Hewlett Packard have confirmed their intention to stop making PC's, tablets and phones and are going to concentrate their business within the software market and developing cloud computing instead.
After making this announcement, Hewlett Packard also stated it's intention to sell it's PC division, and that it will discontinue it's webOS devices. This will remove Hewlett Packard from the consumer market but they still plan to sell servers and other equipment to business users.
Hewlett Packard has also agreed to buy UK software company Autonomy.
This is a stark change in direction for Hewlett Packard who stated back in March that it would include webOS in all of it's hardware.
Having launched it's smartphone Pre it has decided to remove the product, even though last year Hewlett Packard bought mobile maker Palm.
